Here's what client Catherine Gauthier said:My husband and I have several rescue dogs and we also foster rescued dogs for a local no-kill animal shelter. We also have three cats. Because of the wide variety of animals that have lived with us, we have seen every kind of canine and feline behavior imaginable. From perfectly wonderful, gentle and loving to borderline vicious. In one particular case, we had some behavior issues that we couldn't quite put a finger on... We didn't really understand what was going on between two of the dogs or how to stop the (seemingly) random and very violent fights that were becoming more and more frequent. Kirsten was very helpful in opening our eyes to the body language the dogs were using, and the messages they were sending to us and to each other. We gained a new perspective and were able to come to an informed decision to separate the dogs, rather than leaving them in a situation that was causing one of them tremendous anxiety and the other physical harm. I would definitely call Kirsten again and I recommend her frequently. She is a great asset to this area.
Magnolia (my almost 2 year old Yellow Lab/Golden Retriever Mix) was a rescue puppy.
When we got her she had leash agression issues, as well as, a lack of socialization just to name a few of her problems.
Through our work with Kirsten, her patience, her stamina, and her sweet dogs that help Magnolia "be a dog" we have made progress that is beyond belief.
We still have a long way to go with Magnolia, but we know that we have a partner to help us continue on this journey. Kirsten has gone out of her way to answer my e-mails, phone calls, text messages, etc.
She is always available to me, and she even refers to Mags as "our girl." I am thankful for her, because if it wasn't for her, I'm not sure that we would not have given up on Magnolia after a few incidents. Kirsten has never judged us; she has simply provided guidance and advise as we navigate through Magnolia's demons and slowly make progress one step at a time.

Winston (our new English Shepherd) was an incorrigible monster...
The "We have owned dogs in the past and can handle him" bravado faded into despair. Imagine EVERYTHING a dog can have an issue with (which you can't because Winston invented some new ones, so stop trying and read on) and all you thought you knew to try and fix them failing. It was time to find help. After researching the limited local resources we found The Gentle Canine site, read it, liked what we saw, contacted Kirsten and have never regretted it. Here's why:
- Kirsten is professional, prompt, patient and knowledgable
- After a consultation gave us direction and guidance on how to begin training "our" dog
- Each lesson builds on the last
- She comes to your home
Winston is no longer an incorrigable monster.
Kirsten did not hit Winston over the head with a quick fix magic dog trainer wand. She gave us the tools and techniques to set his mind right, we applied them and they WORK.
